About

On Friday, June 12, from 6 to 9pm, Amant will open the exhibition "Rack It!" by London-based artist and musician Klein. The project accompanies Amant’s current exhibition, "Christelle Oyiri: Belief May Vary," which opened on March 19 and features a soundtrack scored by Klein. Performing that evening in Amant’s courtyard, YATTA will be on the decks from 7 pm onward. The exhibition, conceived by Klein, takes the form of a film installation entitled [redacted] and a site-responsive display of the book "Rack It!" published by the Paris-based exhibition space No Tax in 2025. The book assembles Klein’s own courtroom drawings, transcripts, film stills and handwritten notes, tracing her real-time reflections on Young Thug’s YSL-RICO trial, the longest criminal trial in Georgia’s history. Part dossier, part stage play, the book unfolds through fragments of testimony and media spectacle, positioning the reader as both audience and juror. Written, directed, edited and scored by Klein, the newly commissioned film is structured as a staged audio description of the book. The film follows the Canadian artist, LA Timpa, as the character [redacted], an actor that has been tasked with neutrality. Yet, the story is rigged, and the actor’s parasocial proximity begins to take center stage. YATTA is a Sierra Leonean-American artist, composer, and educator working across music, performance, installation, and film. Their 2024 album PALM WINE, named one of The Wire's Best Albums of 2024, builds on the legacy of their great uncle, pioneering Sierra Leonean guitarist S.E. Rogie, reimagining palm wine music through storytelling, lilting vocals, and a slant toward levity, ease, and play. Recent exhibitions include Iron + Palm Wine (Art Omi, 2025–26) and FATHAGOD.EXE (Blade Study, 2025). Their work has been presented at MoMA, Tate Modern, The Getty, and Pioneer Works. Klein is an artist and composer living and working in London, whose work often blurs the lines between fact and fiction. Her music releases, sculpture work, drawings, films, and performances are often informed by urban mapping, surveillance, humor, hip hop, noise, identity, and beyond. Her work has been shown and performed in museums, galleries, theatres, yards, squats and pubs, including Galerie Buchholz, Kunstverein München, HBO, Bourse de Commerce, the Barbican, Tate Britain, The Old Blue Last, New Cross Inn and Moonshine Lounge.
