About
Juneteenth Prox.imity SF welcomes a lineup of some local hitters from the Bay Area!!!!!!! with an all locals night. NINA SOL ELEMENTS OAK DJs are the modern day griot, maintaining history through musical storytelling. Crates of records serving as a repository of tradition where knowledge, ideas and cultural material are preserved and transmitted from one generation to the next. Nina Sol, a nod to her Afro-Latina heritage & warm and sunshiny disposition, delivers a genre-bending soulful sound that resonates with audiences locally and across the globe. A vinyl enthusiast that traverses time and texture, Nina's insatiable curiosity for music discovery keeps her sets fresh and unexpected. Currently based in Oakland, Nina holds monthly residencies at Constellations, a party dedicated to past and present artists born under the zodiac sign of the month, and Elements throwing down underground dance music alongside soulful house DJ veteran, Patrick Wilson. She has opened for artists including Rich Medina, Solange, Pete Rock, Ge-ology, Jose James, DJ Spinna, and many others. Sol has contributed to music sites such as Music is My Sanctuary and mainstay parties namely thePeople, Jump N Funk, Makossa Brooklyn, The Matatu Film Festival, Motown on Mondays, & Black Weirdo. Nina Sol brings a profound energy to dance floors while spreading messages of justice, freedom, and love. Chuck Gunn Qaotiq | Double Dutch "San Francisco transplant by-way of Los Angeles, Chuck Gunn is a co-founder and resident of QAOTIQ, a queer rave based in California's Bay Area that aims to uplift and champion BIPOC/Trans artists. His fresh and spacey take on house and techno is shaped by the acid, dub and microhouse movements that grew out of 90's minimal techno. Chuck moves through various textures, from rugged terrain, spaced out atmospheres, dub rhythms, all balled up in a bounce & grace that smacks the dance floor again and again. Gunn's range and skill can hold down any underground dance floor and it's obvious that we're not the only ones that have taken notice as Chuck plays up and down the West Coast at clubs & festivals alike." Freshie Climax | EIH SF Dj Freshie: With an ear for both the microcosmic and bogglingly enormous, Dj Freshie (FKA Freshstep) has been murdering dance floors by caressing of the wheels of steel since '99. Mr. Freeman has held residencies in San Francisco, Chicago, St.Louis, Minneapolis, Tokyo, Seoul, and Bangkok. Though currently residing in San Francisco, he got his start DJing in the American Midwest. His fusion of House, Soul, Disco, Electro, italo-Disco, and early eighties Hip Hop was initially catalyzed as a kid in the back seat of his Dad’s car, while in a child’s planning stages for Nasa engineering and Double Dare invitation, he was forced, yet delighted, to listen to and dissect a whole generation Dance B sides, esoteric even for the time. His mission: to weave all the static out there into grassroots, connect one blade to the next, and weave a culturally rich soundscape for all to enjoy. John Glass Multon Music | Local 500 Starting his career in 2003, John quickly gained notoriety in Rochester, NY for his unique blend of deep, funky, jazzy, latin, and jackin’ house. After playing in bars across Rochester, he began playing in clubs including ONE, Pearl, Tilt, Pulse, Tonic and a residency at Venue. After expanding his repertoire, gigs elsewhere materialized in Maine at Una, Plush, and Mercury Lounge as well as The Flat and Boheme in Houston. After a several year hiatus, playing a private music festival near the Salton Sea and a rooftop party in SF’s mission district in 2021 was enough to get him to set up his decks again permanently. A chance meeting with Moray Rivers at F8 allowed him to connect with the SF music scene and to join BeatLab for a time, followed by Local 500 and Moulton Music. Since then, he’s played at the likes of Temple, Public Works, F8, The Foundry, Phonobar, Valencia Room, Butter, The Eagle, Mothership, The Chapel, Powerhouse, 7th West, Bergerac, Underground SF, Asiento, Amber Lounge, El Chato, Muse, Deco Dance, Midway, Club Wazeima, Madrone Art Bar, Cal Academy Of Sciences, as well as several international gigs in both Stockholm and Taipei. EASTCOASTGHOST (Debut) PROX.IMITY Dr. Rek PROX.IMITY Resident DJ and Visualist. Dr. Rek returns with a new hardware visuals setup for this edition of PROX. A staple of scenes in LA, Japan, and the Bay Area over the last 20+ years, Dr. Rek brings a keen sense for recursive mind bending eye melting visuals, as well as Gourmet DJ sets.
